This really is a great! Looking / very rare! Victorian wall mount cigar lighter / natural gas fixture / gas lighting item. Classic! English folklore punch character. Eastlake victorian period / circa aprox. 1880s.
Possibly? French cats bronzemade for the american market. This piece is designed to be a wall mounted tobacco lighter / had a gas flame that came out of the tip of punch's cigar.
This ipece could? Have been used in a tobacco store, hotel lobby, restaurant / tarin depot, well to do private home, etc. It is made out of solid cast bronze / hsa fine!
Quality detail in the features. Note! Also the the topchimney appears to be a match holdermatch safe. This piece is in excellent! Ovreall original condition. Note! That it probably had a metal or wood back plate at one time that could have had a valve mechanism. This piece really does have a great! Look. Reserve is low!
